Warriors to send Tyler to D-League

Staff report

As the NBA All-Star break concludes, rookie post player Jeremy Tyler will join the Dakota Wizards, the Golden State Warriors' NBA Development League team, according to published reports in the Bay Area.

An announcement was expected on Monday, the San Jose Mercury News reported, citing a team source.

Tyler, who suited up for the now-defunct Tokyo Apache last season, has averaged 4.6 minutes per game for the Warriors (13-17), who are in 12th place in the Western Conference under first-year coach Mark Jackson. He's scoring 1.9 points and grabbing 1.0 rebounds in 14 games for Golden State.

Former Tokyo coach Bob Hill's son, Casey, who served on the Apache bench in 2010-11, is now a special assistant for Dakota.

Tyler, 20, was the first player to be drafted from a bj-league into the NBA. He was a second-round pick by the Charlotte Bobcats, who shipped him to Golden State on draft day.
