Point guard Yuko Oga said Friday she has received a formal offer to attend the 2009 WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury's camp.
The 27-year-old Oga, who spent one season with the team in 2008, plans to leave for the United States in mid-April and will try to earn a spot on the season-opening roster.
The WNBA season begins in early May.
"This is a great chance. I'll go out there and do my best," said Oga, who played about eight minutes per game and averaged 2.4 points in 23 appearances in 2008.
Last year, Oga, a JOMO Sunflowers star, attended the Mercury's camp but was released shortly before the start of the season because of left wrist problems.
