The Japan Times

Osaka Evessa power forward Lynn Washington, the undisputed leader of the three-time defending bj-league champion, had a magnificent month in April, averaging 29.6 points, 13.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

Washington is the league's April MVP, it was announced on Tuesday.

Osaka went 8-0 in April, wrapping up the No. 2 playoff seed for the Western Conference on the season's final weekend. Washington, who starred at Indiana University before embarking on a pro career, had 41 points in the season finale against the Takamatsu Five Arrows, who will face Osaka on Saturday and Sunday in the opening round of the playoffs.

Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix swingman Marcus Morrison is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the league also announced on Tuesday.

He had 22 points and eight rebounds in a win over the Toyama Grouses on Saturday. A day later, Morrison had five dunks and finished with 30 points and nine rebounds as the Phoenix, the Eastern Conference's No. 1 playoff seed, earned a sweep over Toyama.
