Washington propels Evessa past Grouses

Lynn Washington's triple-double sparked the Osaka Evessa to a 105-92 home win over the Toyama Grouses on Saturday night.
Washington finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while Ryan Blackwell (26 points, 11 boards) and Nile Murry (20 points, 11 boards, seven assists) both posted double-doubles as the three-time defending champion Evessa improved to 23-14 in the bj-league.
Jerod Ward scored 34 points for the Grouses, who fell to 10-27. Terrence Woodyard added 25 points and Masayuki Kabaya contributed 13.
Also Saturday, the high-scoring Sendai 89ers earned a 102-96 road triumph over the Takamatsu Five Arrows. Rodney Webb paced the 89ers (19-18) with 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Frontcourt mate Bobby St. Preux scored 26 points, Joe Barber had 14 and Kenichi Takahashi 13. Takehiko Shimura dished out seven assists.
Matt Garrison put 30 points on the board for the Five Arrows (26-11) and Yu Okada had 23 in the loss.
Michael Gardener scored 28 points and Marcus Morrison had 18 in the Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix's 96-65 road win over the Oita HeatDevils.
Sun Ming Ming had 12 points and grabbed eight boards for Hamamatsu (26-11), which led 52-30 at halftime.
Levonn Jordan, Gardener and Stanley Ocitti shared the team lead in assists (four).
Jeffrey Price led Oita (7-30) with 19 points.
Michael Parker's 24 points and 16 rebounds helped the Rizing Fukuoka beat the host Niigata Albirex BB 79-69.
Kohei Mitomo poured in 19 points, Marlyn Bryant added 17 and Takanori Goya had 11 as Fukuoka improved to 16-21.
For Niigata (15-22), Makoto Hasegawa had a team-best 20 points.
Anthony McHenry had 15 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the Ryukyu Golden Kings' 63-54 win over the Saitama Broncos.
Naoto Takushi and Bryan Simpson chipped in with 12 points apiece and Jeff Newton had 11 points and 16 boards for Ryukyu.
The Golden Kings (29-8) outscored Saitama 27-10 in the third quarter.
Reggie Warren had a 12-point, 10-rebound effort and Taishiro Shimizu and Isaac Sojourner had 11 points apiece for Saitama (14-23).
