Price named week's top playerThe Japan Times
The Oita HeatDevils have struggled since the season began, but center Jeffrey Price helped them put together their first winning streak of the 2008-09 season last weekend. Price is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday. The 204-cm big man had 16 points and nine rebounds in a 70-69 victory over the host Toyama Grouses on Saturday. A day later, Price scored a game-high 31 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked four shots as Oita improved to 4-10. Also Tuesday, Tokyo Apache guard John "Helicopter" Humphrey was named the league's player of the month for November. Humphrey averaged 28.4 points per game as the Apache went 6-2 in the month. In November, he shot 42.6 percent from 3-point range and had four games of 30 or more points. |
