Sendai 89ers center Patrick Whearty, who guided his first-place team to a pair of wins last weekend, is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday.

He scored 19 points and had nine rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots and one steal in the 89ers' 97-79 win over Eastern Conference rival Niigata Albirex BB on Saturday.

A day later, Whearty had a 23-point, eight-rebound, four-assist, two-block performance in a 96-76 victory.
