Diouf carries 89ers in bj-league

Sendai forward Mamadou Diouf had 28 points, 19 rebounds and six assists, playing in 39 minutes out of 40, to help the fifth-placed 89ers move to .500 at 16 all with a 80-74 victory over the Takamatsu Five Arrows (19-13) at Tome Gymnasium in Miyagi Prefecture on Sunday afternoon.

In Toyama, five players scored in the double-digits as the Osaka Evessa (23-9) crushed the host Grouses (11-21) 79-57. In Buzen, Oita Pref., big men Justin Allen and Andy Ellis had 23 and 22 points, respectively, as the HeatDevils (18-14) edged the Niigata Albirex BB (18-14) 82-79 at home. In Tokyo, the Saitama Broncos (12-20) again defeated the John Humphrey-less Apache (11-21) 91-75. (The Japan Times)
