S-Pulse bring Bare back to Japan

Kyodo

SHIZUOKA — Former Gamba Osaka striker Bare will return to the J. League next season with Shimizu S-Pulse, the club announced on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Brazilian left Japan midway through the 2008 season for UAE side Al Ahli, but enjoyed his share of success in the seven years prior to his departure. Bare, who also played for Ventforet Kofu and Omiya Ardija, scored 44 goals in 79 J1 games and 71 in 152 J2 appearances.

Bare was also named to the J. League's Best XI in 2007. Shimizu coach Afshin Ghotbi, whose team reached the Nabisco Cup final but finished ninth in the league, had been in the market for a center forward.
