Bayern declines full Usami transfer

Kyodo

OSAKA — Bayern Munich did not exercise its full transfer option on Takashi Usami, Gamba Osaka said on Thursday.

Gamba's head of development Yasuhiro Yamamoto said Bayern informed the club of its decision in writing on Tuesday.

Usami, who has made just one Bundesliga appearance this season, is on loan from Gamba to Bayern until June 30, and the Bavarian giants had until the winter transfer deadline to permanently sign the 19-year-old.

Yamamoto hopes the Japanese youth international will choose to return to his old club, which will start the upcoming J. League season under new coach Jose Carlos Serrao.

"We'd really love it if he played for us again," Yamamoto said.
