Sanfrecce cutting ties with Petrovic

Kyodo

Hiroshima — Sanfrecce Hiroshima said Wednesday they will not offer manager Mihailo Petrovic a contract for next season.

Hiroshima are in eighth place in the J. League first division with three matches left in the season under the 54-year-old Austrian manager.

They have a 12-11 record with eight draws.

Petrovic took the helm in June 2006. Hiroshima were relegated to the second division after finishing 16th in the first division in 2007.

But they returned to the top flight in 2009 after one season in the second division.

Last year, Hiroshima made their Asian Champions League debut and were beaten finalists in the Nabisco Cup, losing to Jubilo Iwata 5-3 in extra time.
