Sendai latest stop for Marquinhos

SENDAI (Kyodo) Brazilian striker Marquinhos will be back in Japan tormenting defenses again this season after Vegalta Sendai on Friday announced the acquisition of the 34-year-old journeyman.

Sendai will be Marquinhos' sixth J1 club. He joined Tokyo Verdy in 2001 and had stints with Yokohama F. Marinos, JEF United Ichihara and Shimizu S-Pulse before spearheading Kashima Antlers to three successive championship titles from 2007 to 2009.

Released by Kashima at the end of last term after his contract expired with the Emperor's Cup holders, Marquinhos was the J. League leading scorer in 2008 with 21 goals in 30 league matches.
