BOCHUM, Germany (AP) Striker Chong Tese, the star of North Korea's national team, is joining German second-division club Bochum.
Bochum said Chong signed a two-year contract on Friday with an option for a third year.
Bochum sports director Thomas Ernst said Chong is "a very powerful striker" and the club is "sure that he will prove his capabilities with us."
The 26-year-old joins Bochum from the J. League's Kawasaki Frontale. Bochum gave no financial details of the deal.
Chong, who has been nicknamed "the People's Rooney" after England striker Wayne Rooney, said: "I wanted with all my heart to be able to go to Europe."
