YOKOHAMA (AP) Yokohama F. Marinos midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura says he will play in Japan's World Cup warmup against Serbia on Wednesday despite injuring his ankle on the weekend.
Nakamura left midway through the first half of Yokohama's 2-1 loss to Shimizu S-Pulse in the J. League on Saturday after taking a kick to his left foot.
"It's not as bad as I thought," Nakamura told Monday's Nikkan Sports. "There is still some pain there but I think I'll be ready by game time."
MRI scans showed no fracture or ligament damage.
