YOKOHAMA (AP) A first-half goal from Takahiro Futagawa put holders Gamba Osaka into the last four of the J. League Nabisco Cup on Wednesday but league leaders Kashima Antlers crashed out in the quarterfinals.
Gamba lost 2-1 at Yokohama F. Marinos on the night but Futagawa's goal proved decisive after both sides finished 2-2 on aggregate after two legs. Kashima was eliminated with its defeat at Shimizu S-Pulse by the same score, while Nagoya Grampus and Oita Trinita also advanced to next month's semifinals.
Nagoya downed JEF United Chiba 1-0 for the second successive time, Takahiro Masukawa grabbing the only goal of the evening with a 61st-minute header.
