Kyodo News

Kashiwa Reysol have signed Brazilian striker Popo and midfielder Alex, the J. League first-division club said Wednesday. The 29-year old Popo joins Kashiwa on a one-year loan from South Korean K-League side Gyeongnam FC while Alex has made a permanent move from J. League second-division club Avispa Fukuoka. Popo was the leading scorer in the K-League in the 2006 season with 13 goals while Alex, 24, notched double that figure last year with Fukuoka in J-2. In other transactions, Under-20 World Cup midfielder Yohei Fukumoto has joined Gamba Osaka from Oita Trinita on a one-year loan.
