NAGOYA (Kyodo) Nagoya Grampus Eight has abandoned a plan to hire Dragan Stojkovic as manager due to licensing problems, officials of the J. League first-division club said Tuesday.

Senior club official Yoshihiro Fukushima said Stojkovic's coaching license does not meet the requirements set to become manager of a J. League club, adding that he will not assume any of the posts at the club.

Earlier this month, Nagoya said it had approached Stojkovic about becoming taking over as manager from outgoing boss Sef Vergoossen shortly after the former Yugoslavia star resigned as president of Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade.
