Kurotsu, Sugimoto get called up

Kyodo News

Kawasaki Frontale striker Masaru Kurotsu was among four players called up for the Japan national team for the first time Sunday as coach Ivica Osim named a 25-man squad for a three-day training camp starting in Chiba Prefecture on Monday. Defenders Takanobu Komiyama (Yokohama F. Marinos), Naoya Kondo (Kashiwa Reysol) and Nagoya Grampus Eight forward Keita Sugimoto were also picked for the first time for the camp, which is serving as preparation for next month's Kirin Cup friendlies against Montenegro and Colombia. Japan faces Montenegro in Shizuoka on June 1 and then takes on Colombia four days later in Saitama in their final warmup game for the defense of the Asian Cup in July.
