KYOTO (Kyodo) Kyoto Purple Sanga manager Koichi Hashiratani has signed a new contract with the J. League club, which has been promoted back to the top flight by winning the second-division title.

The one-year deal runs from Feb. 1 next year for the 44-year-old Hashiratani, who became Kyoto manager last year and helped them to play first-division football next year for the first time in three seasons.
