Oita manager quits after dismal results

OITA (Kyodo) Oita Trinita has accepted the resignation of South Korean manager Hwangbo Kwan, who has decided to step down after a string of dismal results, officials of the J. League first-division club said Sunday.

Oita said Dutch assistant coach Arie Schans will take over as caretaker manager from Tuesday.

Relegation-threatened Oita has won only five of 21 games this season.

Treviso after Ishikawa

FC Tokyo has received an offer for Japan Athens Olympics midfielder Naohiro Ishikawa from newly promoted Serie A side Treviso, it was learned Monday.

The club informed the 24-year-old Ishikawa of Treviso's interest after receiving a fax from the Italians but Tokyo official Tokuhiko Suzuki said he "could not comment" on the offer until he holds discussions with the player.
