Goalkeeper Kawaguchi ready for Jubilo stint

HAMAMATSU, Shizuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Japan goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi said Tuesday he will do everything possible to help Jubilo Iwata stay sharp as he was formally introduced by the J. League first division side Tuesday.

"I want to do my best to help Iwata stay the strong team that they are," said Kawaguchi, who was introduced in the presence of Iwata coach Masakuni Yamamoto.

Kawaguchi, whose deal with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland expired at the end of last month, agreed to a provisional contract with Iwata which will run from January.

A long-term deal, through which he will be making a complete transfer and comeback to the J. league for the first time in four seasons, is expected to be for three years.

Yoo to miss final

Yokohama F. Marinos manager Takeshi Okada said Tuesday that South Korean midfielder Yoo Sang Chul will miss the second leg of the J. League Championship final after aggravating a left thigh injury in practice.

Okada said Yoo will sit out the match against the Urawa Reds at Saitama Stadium 2002 this Saturday and will require six to seven weeks to recover.

Yokohama won the first leg of the final 1-0 on Sunday.
