Drinking problem

KASHIMA, Ibaraki Pref. (Kyodo) Seven players from the national team are in hot water for violating team regulations by spending a night out drinking while training in Kashima for their recent opening 2006 World Cup Asian zone qualifier match against Oman, soccer sources said Saturday.

The Japan Football Association said it will decide on a course of action to take with the seven once it has finished questioning them about the incident, which occurred on the night of Feb. 7.

The seven unnamed players, who were training for their Feb. 18 match against Oman, were apparently drinking at an establishment in Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture.

As a rule players who are attending training camp are not allowed out without permission from the national team.
