Japan midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara scored twice to help power the Kashima Antlers into the semifinals of the Emperor's Cup after a 4-1 win Tuesday over J. League champions Yokohama F. Marinos.
Masashi Motoyama fired Kashima in front after just five minutes before Takeshi Aoki doubled the lead and Ogasawara put Kashima firmly in the driver's seat by making it 3-0 after 29 minutes.
Brazilian defender Dutra gave Yokohama hope when he pulled one back 21 minutes after the interval but Ogasawara put the result beyond doubt with his second of the match in the 71st minute to keep two-time winners Antlers on course for their second straight appearance in the final after losing to Kyoto Purple Sanga last year.
Kashima will face Cerezo Osaka, which came from behind to beat Vissel Kobe 3-2 thanks to a late winner from two-goal hero Marcelo Baron, in the semifinals.
In other quarterfinal matches, Shimizu S-Pulse defeated JEF United Ichihara 1-0 and will face Jubilo Iwata, which crushed Tokyo Verdy 3-0, in the semifinals.
