Miura pondering offer from Vissel

KOBE (Kyodo) Veteran Vissel Kobe striker Kazuyoshi Miura said Tuesday he has no plans to leave the J. League club though he is dissatisfied with their first contract offer.

"I told them I'd like them to consider the offer some more since the financial conditions are somewhat below what I expected," Miura, 36. said "But I won't leave just because of the money."

Miura, a key member of the Japan national team for much of the 1990s, has been plagued with injuries in recent years and lost his luster, prompting many to think he will retire soon.

"We would like to evaluate him based on his results this season," Kobe senior managing director Masakazu Kawai said.

"We would like to make a decision by next week after discussing the matter thoroughly."
