Ivy-Samurai Bowl set for Sunday

Former Ivy League football players will visit Japan to team up with college players and play in the Ivy-Samurai Bowl on Sunday, organizers have announced.

Ex-players and coaches from University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University -- bitter rivals in the Ivy League -- will join All-Star squads from the Kanto College Football League in the third-annual exhibition game.

Penn sends quarterback Mike Michell, safety Doug Middleton, running back Sam Matthews and linebacker Ric San Doval -- all of whom finished the football program last fall -- along with coach Eldo Bagnoli and his staff.

The Quakers, who have won 13 Ivy League titles, finished 5-5 last season. The Quakers will join KCFL Block A schools.

Representing Princeton (7-3), will be coach Roger Hughes, who brings running backs Jon Veach and Keith Elias, and linebackers Saheed Fadeyi and Robert Holub as well as his assistants.

The Tigers, who have eight Ivy League championships, will team up with KCFL Block B colleges. The game kicks off at noon at Komazawa Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
