Grampus sign Albirex striker Yano

Kyodo

NAGOYA — J. League first-division side Nagoya Grampus announced the signing of former Japan forward Kisho Yano on Monday.

The 28-year-old Yano moves from Albirex Niigata, where he was used as a substitute for the last two thirds of the season. He scored twice in 30 games.

After going to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with the national team, Yano played two seasons for SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga.

"I am fond of Niigata and this was a difficult decision, but I think it's important to go somewhere new and develop. I want to work hard and score a lot of goals," he said.

Grampus general manager Kazumasa Kume said of the 185-cm forward, "He can play in the middle or on the side, and he has some height as well."
