Okazaki leads Stuttgart past Furth

Kyodo

LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Japan striker Shinji Okazaki hit the winner as Stuttgart edged Greuther Furth 1-0 away to collect its third win in four games in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Okazaki reacted quickest after Furth goalkeeper Wolfgang Hesl blocked Vedad Ibisevic's penalty, heading in the rebound on the stroke of halftime.

"Firstly I am pleased that I could play because I didn't feature in the last match," said Okazaki. "I got myself prepared and am happy I was able to play 90 minutes."

"I had not scored in the Bundesliga this season so I am glad I was able to put it away."

Gotoku Sakai also put in a full shift for Stuttgart.
