LONDON — Japan international striker Ryo Miyaichi will play for Wigan of England's Premier League on a season-long loan, parent club Arsenal said Monday.
The speedy 19-year-old forward saw limited playing time in League Cup matches for Arsenal during the first half of last season. At the end of the winter transfer window in January, Miyaichi was sent to Bolton on loan for the remainder of the season.
He made his Premier League debut in February and appeared in a total of 14 games for the Wanderers.
Last season, Wigan finished 15th in the Premier League standings. Wigan opens the new season on Sunday with a home game against European champion Chelsea.
