MANCHESTER, England — The Brazilian soccer federation has released a statement denying that midfielder Lucas underwent physical tests to finalize a possible transfer to Manchester United.
The federation said it is "not true" that Lucas left Brazil's Olympic preparations to undergo the tests on Sunday, as reported by British media.
The statement said Brazil has not received any requests by English clubs and that even if it did, it would not allow the player to leave the team's headquarters.
There have been talks about Lucas' transfer from Sao Paulo to United for some time in Brazil and in England.
