Dortmund expects Kagawa to leave

Kyodo

DUSSELDORF, Germany — Borussia Dortmund is not expecting Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa to sign an extension, sports director Michael Zorc said Sunday.

"We're making plans on the premise that he will transfer this summer," Zorc said during a television interview with Sky.

"Kagawa isn't looking to sign an extension at this point in time. There's no need for us to sell him given our current finances, but his market value is high right now.

"If we receive an offer, we will consider it."

Kagawa's contract with the Bundesliga champion expires in 2013. He has been linked to European giants such as Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan.

Dortmund has offered the 23-year-old Kagawa a three-year extension, doubling his annual salary to €3 million. United is reportedly preparing to double Dortmund's offer.

Kagawa himself on Saturday refused to comment on his future.
