Usami completes 'dream' transfer

Highly rated teenage striker Takashi Usami described his move to Bayern Munich as a "dream come true," after he completed his loan move to the Bundesliga giants from Gamba Osaka on Friday.

"Coming here is a dream come true. FC Bayern is a huge club with great players. I'm delighted to be here," Usami, who took delivery of the No. 14 shirt from director of sport Christian Nerlinger, told Bayern's website.

The 19-year-old Usami will initially join Munich on loan, with an option for Bayern to make his stay permanent after that.

Local media reports quoted Bayern club president Uli Hoeness as saying the 22-time German champions want to keep Usami for the long-term.

The transfer will only be meaningful "if the player plays for us for the long term," Hoeness was quoted as saying by AFP. "If he were to become a permanent player, which is something we all want, that would be a fine thing."
