LEICESTER, England (AP) Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was appointed manager of English second-tier club Leicester on Sunday.

The 62-year-old Eriksson attended Leicester's 3-1 win over Scunthorpe on Saturday before signing a reported two-year deal with the club.

Eriksson will join Leicester on its tour of Thailand during the international break before his first League Championship game at home to Hull City on Oct. 16.

"I am extremely pleased to be the new manager of Leicester," Eriksson said. "This challenge provides great motivation for me and I look forward to working with the players, meeting the supporters and hopefully achieving great success."
