Drogba named Africa's top player

ACCRA (AP) Didier Drogba has been named Africa's soccer player of the year for the second time.

The Cote d'Ivoire and Chelsea striker received the 2009 award on Thursday from the African Football Confederation.

Also shortlisted were his club teammate Michael Essien of Ghana, and Samuel Eto'o of Cameroon.

Drogba previously won the award in 2006.
