LIVERPOOL, England (AP) The son of Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has resigned as a director of the Premier League club, a week after media reports that he sent an abusive e-mail to a fan.
Liverpool said Monday that American businessman Tom Hicks Jr. quit as a director of the club and its parent company, Kop Holdings.
British media reported last week that a fan forwarded Hicks Jr. a local newspaper story about the club's debts and received in response a profanity-filled e-mail.
Liverpool also said that Philip Nash, Ian Ayre and Casey Coffman had been elected to the board of the club and its holding company.
