PRAGUE (AP) Frantisek Vesely, a striker who helped Czechoslovakia win the 1976 European Championship, died unexpectedly at home Friday, his former club Slavia Prague said. He was 65.
No further details were immediately given.
Vesely played 34 times for Czechoslovakia from 1965-77, including at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. He scored one of his three international goals in the 3-1 semifinal win over the Netherlands at Euro 1976 in Belgrade. The team later beat Germany in a penalty shootout to win the title.
Vesely played a record 920 matches for Slavia from 1965-80 and scored 250 goals. He also played for Rapid Vienna.
