Honda's streak ends in Venlo draw

NIJMEGEN, Netherlands (Kyodo) Keisuke Honda's goal-scoring run came to an end Saturday but the midfielder had a hand in the opener as VVV Venlo held NEC Nijmegen 1-1 away to register its fifth successive draw in the Dutch first division.

Sandro Calabro fired Venlo into the lead just after the half-hour mark, driving home after Honda, on target in all four of his side's previous games, had headed on Achmed Ahahaoui's curling cross into the box.

However, Ramon Zomer leveled for NEC early in the second half to grab a share of the spoils for the home side.
