READERS IN COUNCIL

Admirable level of readership

By RAJDEEP SETH
Bangalore, India

Regarding Roger Pulvers' June 6 Counterpoint article, "E-books look set to swamp us just as microwave ovens once did": What I admire about the Japanese people is that they read so much, be it serious stuff, manga or outright trash. I think it's a very good thing that the bulk of a nation's population should read so much. I wish people in India did the same. Reading as a habit or pleasure is increasingly becoming something alien among the modern.
