Five held over info-leaking software

The Metropolitan Police Department arrested five people in Tokyo for allegedly releasing software infected with a virus that leaks personal information from smartphones.

The police, led by a team fighting cybercrimes, arrested the five suspects Tuesday, including Hirokatsu Okuno, 36, former chairman of an information technology-related company in Tokyo, on charges of creating and releasing the "Piyomori the Movie" software online March 21, and having a female college student in Tokyo download it April 6. At least 90,000 people are believed to have downloaded such software.
