Torchlight acoustic guitar concert in Kyoto
An acoustic guitar concert will be held under torchlight Sept. 10 in the garden of Kyoto National Museum in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto. The outdoor event will feature the acoustic guitar duo DEPAPEPE from Kobe.
The event is being produced by ceramicist and event producer Takaaki Takeda and will be held in the garden in front of the special gallery building of Kyoto National Museum, which was built in the Meiji Era (1868-1912).
Tickets for reserved seats are ¥4,000 in advance and ¥4,500 at the door. If those tickets are sold out, standing-room tickets will be sold at the door. The venue will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 6:30 p.m. The show will be canceled in the event of stormy weather.
The museum is a seven-minute walk east of Shichijo Station on the Keihan Railway's Honsen Line. Tickets can be purchased in advance at ticket agency Pia (P-code: 144-797) or Lawson convenience stores (L-code: 57208). Seniors get discount at Kaiyukan Aquarium
Kaiyukan Aquarium in Minato Ward, Osaka, is offering a special discount for the elderly for the month of September to celebrate Respect for the Aged Day on Sept. 19.
People aged 65 and over can enter the aquarium for ¥1,500, which is ¥500 less than the regular ¥2,000 adult admission fee.
To apply for the discount, a public identification card such as a driver's license is required.
Special discounts are also being given at neighboring facilities, such as the Tempozan Ferris wheel (20 percent off the regular ¥700 fee), the sightseeing cruise ship Santa Maria (50 percent off the regular ¥1,600 passage fare) and at various shops and restaurants in the Tempozan Market Place shopping mall.

15th Kyoto Music Festival begins Sept. 17
The 15th Autumn Kyoto Music Festival, which will run through Nov. 23, will kick off at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 with an opening concert at Kyoto Concert Hall in Sakyo Ward.
The concert will be conducted by Junichi Hirokami and performed by the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra with pianist Hibiki Tamura. They will perform Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major by Hungarian composer F. Liszt and The Nutcraker Act 2 by Russian composer P. I. Tchaikovsky. Tickets are ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for university students and youths.
