Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 KANSAI: Who & WhatExploration of Indian and Japanese flutes The Conference on Art and Art Project is inviting people to a Japanese and Indian flute concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 in Chuo Ward, Kobe. The concert will explore new possibilities by comparing Japanese and Indian music. Miwako Mori will play the "shinobue," a type of Japanese traditional flute, and Hiroshi Nakagawa will play an Indian bamboo flute. Tickets are ¥2,000 in advance and ¥2,500 at the door. Indian curry, prepared by Nakagawa, will be sold for ¥500 with advance reservations. The venue is Cap Club Q2, near Port Terminal Station on the Port Liner railway. Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble will perform Christmas songs such as "Joy to the World," "Silent Night" and "Ave Maria," with Shuji Okawa as conductor. Sakiko Okamoto will accompany them on the piano. Two 30-minute concerts will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The venue is the main lobby of Biwako Hall, a 20-minute walk or seven-minute bus ride from Otsu Station on the JR Biwako Line. G-gauge LGB trains running at Hilton Osaka Hilton Osaka in Kita Ward, Osaka, is showcasing the "Hilton Christmas Train," a large-scale model railroad diorama, in its lobby until Jan. 7. The set measures 9.6 meters by 4.2 meters and features a winter European town with G-scale trains from German railroad model manufacturer Lehmann Gross Bahn. The lobby is open to the public.
