SIETAR to host culture workshop at Takatsuki
The Kansai Chapter of Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research will host an intercultural workshop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 7 in Takatsuki, Osaka.
Clifford Clarke, a well-known intercultural trainer and professor at University of Hawaii Affiliate Graduate Faculty, will give a lecture in English titled "Integrating the Multiple Interdisciplinary Functions of the Interculturalist."
No advance applications are necessary. Admission is ¥2,000 for SIETAR members, ¥1,000 for SIETAR member students, ¥3,000 for nonmembers, and ¥1,500 for non-member students.
The venue is Takatsuki Shiritsu Shogai Gakushu Center's Seminar Room, which is a 10-minute walk from JR Takatsuki or Hankyu Takatsuki-shi stations.

Free counseling offered to foreigners in Osaka
Free information and counseling services will be offered to foreign residents at Osaka International House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 7.
Specialized advice will be available regarding Japanese laws, immigration, health insurance, national pension, tax, labor, medicine, education, child care, and other areas in which foreign residents may have difficulty in dealing with. Volunteers will provide interpretation in nine languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Indonesian, Filipino and Vietnamese.
Participation is free. Counseling is give in strict confidence. No prior appointment is necessary. Reception will be closed at 4:30 p.m.
The venue is on the second floor of International House Osaka, which is a 10-minute walk from Tanimachi 9-chome station on the Tanimachi or Sennichimae subway lines.

Pirates of Dotombori plan laughs in Osaka
Pirates of the Dotombori, an Osaka-based bilingual comedy group, will perform a two-hour English and Japanese improv comedy show on May 31 in Chuo Ward, Osaka.
The show will start at 8 p.m. The venue is Sam & Dave Nagahori in Chuo Ward, Osaka (access map available at www.samanddave.jp/).
Entrance is ¥1,500, which includes a drink.

Senri Toastmasters to gather in Toyonaka
The Senri Toastmasters Club, a north Osaka branch of the international organization dedicated to improving communication skills in English, invites people to attend its monthly get-together on June 20 in Toyonaka, Osaka.
The meeting will be held between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Toyonaka City Senri Cultural Center, also known as Collabo, which is near Senri Chuo Station on the Kita Osaka Kyuko Railway Line.
Advance applications are required by phone or via e-mail. Participation is free. To become a member, participants are required to pay an entrance and membership fee.
