Japan-Turkey group to display kilim clothing
An exhibition on Turkey's hand-woven kilim will be held by the Japan-Turkey Culture Society from Thursday through Saturday in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto.
Kilim clothes are traditionally woven by Turkish women with designs and patterns that have special meanings. Around 500 kilim pieces will be on display, with some on sale. Visitors will be able to feel the fabric and learn about the different designs and weaving methods.
Admission is free. The venue is the office of the Japan-Turkey Culture Society on the fifth floor of the Sanyo Muromachi Building, which is about a three-minute walk from Hankyu Karasuma Station and Shijo Station on the Karasuma subway line. The office will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Share a laugh in Osaka with Dotombori pirates
Pirates of the Dotombori, an English comedy group based in Osaka, is organizing a bilingual comedy show on March 22 in Chuo Ward, Osaka.
The venue is Club Pure in the basement floor of Diamond Building at 2-3-12 Shinsaibashi-suji. An access map can be found online at osaka.clubpure.com/ for the show, which starts at 8 p.m.
Admission is ¥2,000, which includes a free drink.

Kyoto preparing to hold 43rd Grand Antique Fair
The 43rd Grand Antique Fair will be held from next Friday to Monday at Kyoto Sogo Mihon Ichi Hall, also known as Pulse Plaza, in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto.
About 350 antique shops will exhibit more than 1.5 million items, including folding screens, hanging scrolls, tea ceremony utensils, Japanese furniture, "ukiyo-e" prints, ceramic wares, antique kimono and Western-style antiques.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. To get to the venue, take the Kintetsu railway or subway lines from Kyoto Station to Takeda Station. A free shuttle bus will be available at exit four of Takeda Station.

Third medical forum planned at Rinku center
Rinku General Medical Center near Kansai International Airport will host the third Rinku International Medical Forum from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. next Saturday in Izumisano, Osaka.
In the first half of the forum, there will be a lecture on the latest treatment for hypercholesterolemia in English and a simulation of drug use instructions for international outpatients.
In the second session, Izabel Arocha, the president of the International Medical Interpreters Association, will give a lecture titled "Medical Interpreter Education — The Foundation of a Profession" in English with Japanese interpretation. Yasuhide Nakamura, a professor at the Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka University, will give a briefing on the current situation for Japanese medical interpreters in Japanese.
The venue is a conference room on the sixth floor of ANA Gate Tower Hotel Osaka, which is near JR or Nankai Rinku Town Station. Admission is free.
