YWCA Bridges plans party to view 'hanami'
Osaka YWCA Bridges will hold its annual cherry blossom viewing party April 7 in Suita, Osaka Prefecture.
The "hanami" cherry blossom party will be held at Banpaku Kinen Koen park from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and participants will meet at Taiyo no To (Tower of the Sun) at 10:30 a.m. Participation is free, but the park charges ¥250 for admission.
The park is near Banpaku Kinen Koen Station on the Osaka Monorail Line.
An application must be made by phone or via e-mail by Friday.

Osaka water plant hosts cherry blossom fete
Kunijima Water Purification Plant in Osaka's Higashi-Yodogawa Ward will open its garden for cherry blossom viewing Sunday through April 13.
The venue is a 460-meter stretch along the Hankyu Kyoto Line from Sozenji to Awaji stations, where around 160 cherry trees form a tunnel of blossoms in spring. After dark, around 130 paper lanterns will light up the trees.
Admission is free. No application is required.

Suisse woodwindsto perform at Kiyomizu
The Suisse Romande Wind Quintet will perform at Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward from 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The quintet consists of woodwind players from the Geneva-based Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Roland Perrenoud (oboe), Benoit Willmann (clarinet), Sarah Rumer (flute), Norio Kato (bassoon) and Isabelle Bourgeois (horn) will perform with guest pianist Azumi Nishizawa. Each concert lasts about 25 minutes.
For the 7:15 p.m. performance, tunes include "Le Bal" (Bizet) and concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 (Ravel), and for the 8 p.m. performance, for piano and woodwinds, K. 452 (Mozart) is scheduled.
Admission is free, but ¥400 is required to enter Kiyomizu Temple. No reservation is required.
The same members will also perform at Kyoto Concert Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday. Tickets for this concert are available for ¥4,000 at Lawson convenient stores and the venue.
