Computer charger desk developed

Kyodo

OSAKA — Kokuyo Furniture Co., Murata Manufacturing Co. and U.S. chip-maker Intel Corp. have developed a desk that can charge a portable computer without a power cord.

While there are no plans yet to put the desk on sale, the companies will continue to develop it for commercialization, the two companies said Thursday.

They will exhibit the desk at CEATEC Japan 2012, the five-day exhibition of advanced technology that starts Tuesday at Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba Prefecture.

The product combines a wireless charging system developed by Murata Manufacturing with a desk produced by Kokuyo.
