Sunday brunch with Champagne; strawberry sweets afternoon tea; eat local at Yokohama buffet
Peninsula brunch with Champagne
Sunday, a traditional day of rest, can be a perfect time to have a relaxing brunch to recharge for the work week. The Peninsula Tokyo offers a special brunch every Sunday at its French restaurant Peter.
The French Sunday Brunch starts with a glass of Champagne as a welcome drink, and continues with a buffet of a variety of appetizers featuring seasonal products. For the main dish, customers can pick from 12 choices and enjoy free helpings.
The brunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at ¥6,500 with unlimited soft drinks, including coffee and tea. For ¥10,500, customers can also drink unlimited Moet Chandon Rose Champagne, as well as red and white wine. For ¥14,500, they can drink unlimited Dom Perignon Brut Champagne, and premium red and white wine.
Unlimited drinks are for a two-hour limit. Prices include tax but are subject to a service charge.

The Strings strawberry afternoon tea
The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo is offering a special winter afternoon tea set featuring strawberries, at its restaurant and bar The Dining Room on the 26th floor, through Feb. 28, 2013.
The set includes three kinds of special desserts that use strawberries: strawberry aroma soup, which is mixed with rosehip and tonka bean ice cream; strawberry tart, with cream cheese that enlivens the flavors of the strawberries; and maple rusk served with a compote of rhubarb and strawberries.
Despite all of them being made with strawberries, each dessert tastes different. Customers can also enjoy the scent of strawberries and herbs and professional presentation.
Afternoon tea is available at teatime from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at ¥2,100, including the desserts and tea or coffee. The sweets alone are available at ¥1,680. Prices include tax, but are subject to a service charge.

Pan Pacific's food buffet goes local
The Pan Pacific Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu is holding a dinner buffet, dubbed "Night Kitchen Stadium: Eating Local Unique Food Ingredients from Yokohama and Kanagawa Prefecture," at Cafe Tosca on the second floor of the hotel, through Jan. 14, except for Dec. 22 to 24.
Marking the 15th anniversary of the hotel this year, the restaurant is using more than 15 kinds of locally grown fresh vegetables for the buffet. The chefs visited farmers in the area to develop the original menu together.
At the Action Corner — where chefs cook at the request of customers who can watch the process — the restaurant prepares "Freshly Harvested Yokohama Vegetables of Tosca Farm," which is a plate of fresh, colorful vegetables arranged with various sauces.
At the "Kamakura Ham Tomioka Shokai Ham Selection Corner," chefs grill bacon, ham and sausages of the Kamakura Ham brand in a pan or on a griddle. The juicy, aromatic meat products, with their enriched taste, go well with vegetables. The restaurant also prepares gyu-nabe, or beef and vegetables stewed with soy sauce in a hot-pot similar to sukiyaki, which is said to have originated in Yokohama.
Cafe Tosca also has excellent views of the large Ferris wheel at the Minato Mirai amusement park. The dinner buffet is available from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
