Belgian beer bar in Otemachi; spa plans at Ritz-Carlton; Mexican food fair at Imperial

Brussels beer bar opens in Otemachi

On Nov. 1, a new branch of the Belgian beer bar Brussels opened in the Otemachi business district in Tokyo.

Located on the first floor of a building directly connected to Otemachi Station, the bar is easy to find, so people can drop by after work. The bar has windows that stretch from the floor to its high ceiling for a sense of spaciousness that can help customers have a relaxing time.

The bar serves about 70 kinds of beer including directly imported Belgian beer. The chain's most popular beer is Grisette Blanche, available on tap at ¥900 per glass.

From light snacks to main meals, the bar offers some special dishes that go with beer, such as grilled pork loin with onion soy sauce.

There area table seats, including outdoor seating when the weather is fine, counter seating and a standing bar. Brussels is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Ritz-Carlton seasonal spa packages

The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo, is offering special seasonal day-spa packages at the Ritz-Carlton Spa & Fitness by ESPA, located on the hotel's 46th floor.

One of the plans is called Holiday Sky Ritual, a treatment package plan for couples at the hotel's spa suite, which is available through Dec. 29 at ¥100,000 per pair, including treatment for two in a private room, spa entrance fee and tax, subject to a 13 percent service charge.

The luxury suite, occupying 100 sq. meters, offers a complete range of amenities such as bath, shower, steam sauna and dedicated treatment and relaxation areas, where couples can unwind while enjoying a stunning panoramic view of the city, such as the towering Tokyo Skytree. The treatment menu includes Super Active Facial, which is intended to dramatically rejuvenate the skin, as well as deeply therapeutic body treatments.

In October, the spa won the coveted Spafinder Wellness Readers' Choice Award, voted the best spa in Japan.

Mexican food fair at Imperial Tokyo

From Nov. 6 to 10, the Imperial Hotel Tokyo will hold a Mexican food fair at the hotel's Parkside Diner on the first floor, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Designated by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Mexican cuisine is justifiably famed for its flavors, embellishments and an array of ingredients reflective of the breadth and richness of its native territories.

Inviting from Mexico famed chef Sylvia Kurczyn Villalobos, who has been a lecturer and representative of Mexican cuisine at many different gastronomic festivals in several countries such as Argentina, Brazil, France and India, the hotel will offer authentic Mexican cuisine.

The menu includes avocado, coriander and mushroom soup, orange-baked pork, bean and beef Garibaldi, tikin-chik fish wrap and anise fritters.
