Shangri-La Christmas cakes; taste of fall at Conrad Tokyo; Hyatt Hakone spa plan
Shangri-La Christmas cake orders
The Shangri-La Hotel in Tokyo will start accepting preorders for Christmas cakes from Nov. 1.
Taking great care over the ingredients and decorations, the hotel's executive pastry chef, Naoya Okamura, has prepared three kinds of special cake for this holiday season.
The white chocolate mousse cake (¥4,000/14-cm diameter; ¥5,500/18-cm diameter) contains a layer of tropical fruits jelly, creating a sweet and sour taste. The red buche de Noel (¥3,800) offers a gentle texture with a rich dark chocolate flavor. The strawberry shortcake (¥3,500/12-cm diameter; ¥5,000/15-cm diameter) is made with dairy cream from Hokkaido and fresh strawberries. Prices include tax.

Conrad Tokyo autumn cuisine fair
The Conrad Tokyo in the Shiodome area is celebrating the fall harvest season by holding a special fair called Autumn Invitation at each of the hotel's restaurants, through the end of November.
Using abundant seasonal products, the hotel's restaurants offer special menus in various cuisines, such as French, Chinese and Japanese. For example, at the hotel's brasserie Cerise by Gordon Ramsay, Michelin-starred chef Shinya Maeda prepares exquisite modern French cuisine for the fair.
During weekday lunch (11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.), customers can enjoy a prix fixe course from ¥2,800, while a tasting menu is available at ¥6,500.
For dinner (5:30-9 p.m.), two courses are available, one at ¥4,800 and the other at ¥6,500.
Reservations are required and prices include tax but are subject to a service charge.

Hyatt Hakone new spa brand, plans
The Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa in the Gora hot springs area is now using Japanese organic cosmetic brand Three for some of its treatments at its spa, Izumi. From Nov. 1, the hotel will offer new plans and promotions featuring the brand.
The spa will start offering a treatment plan called Revitalize, which is available at ¥38,000 for 110 minutes. This full-body treatment uses the original blend of essential oils and botanical extracts.
From Nov. 1 to Dec. 20, a special trial plan will be available, offering a 60-minute body treatment for ¥20,000. Also, during the same period, a special accommodation plan including the trial treatment plan as well as breakfast will be offered. The plan for one night will be available from ¥45,000 for single occupancy and from ¥35,550 per person for double occupancy.
Prices include tax and a service charge. Reservations are necessary for spa plans.
