Hilton Tokyo starts children's club

Free dessert to brighten rainy days

This month, the Hilton Tokyo started a membership program for children, called Little Hilton Club.

The membership fee is ¥1,000 this year, ¥1,500 in subsequent years. Besides the onetime charge, there is no annual membership fee. Children from age 4 to the sixth grade (around age 12) can hold membership.

Members receive a membership card, and during their birthday month, they will receive a free birthday cake when they dine at the hotel for a lunch buffet at the Marble Lounge (¥2,400 per child) or a dinner buffet at Checkers (¥3,300 Sundays to Thursdays; ¥4,500 Fridays, Saturdays and holidays, per child).

At any time, members can have free soft drinks at any of the hotel's restaurants. From July 20 to Aug. 31, members will receive a 50 percent discount at Hilton Tokyo restaurants.

Members will also be eligible to attend Little Chef events on July 27, Aug. 2 and 7. At each event, children will be given a tour of a Hilton Tokyo restaurant kitchen and experience a cooking demonstration. After that, they can enjoy a dessert buffet at the Marble Lounge. The Little Chef event costs ¥8,900 for one child with an adult. Additional adults must pay ¥4,000 to participate, while additional children must pay ¥3,000.

Choice of cold noodles for summer

For lunch this summer, the ANA InterContinental Tokyo is offering two kinds of cold noodle dishes at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, Karin, through Sept. 20.

One version of cold noodles is garnished with ingredients such as Chinese-style barbecued pork, shrimp, king crab, okra, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. The noodles are served in a choice of two flavors, soy sauce or sesame sauce.

Also available are cold Szechuan-style sesame noodles. Chinese spicy bean paste is mixed with soy milk and sesame paste to create a rich, flavorful sauce. The noodles are garnished with minced pork, eggplants, tomatoes, yellow bell peppers and nuts.

The price of the first version is ¥2,200 and the Szechuan version is ¥2,400, including tax but not the 10 percent service charge.

Karin is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. and last orders are at 2:30 p.m. on weekdays, 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Free dessert to brighten rainy days

Through until at least June 24, the Hotel Okura Fukuoka is offering a rainy day special service at its Camellia restaurant.

For all guests having the weekday daily lunch special on a rainy day, Camellia offers a free chef's special dessert of creme brulee.

The daily lunch is based on themes: a hamburger dish on Mondays, pasta on Tuesdays, a risotto or rice dish on Wednesdays, a sandwich on Thursdays and a curry dish on Fridays.

The special menu, which includes one drink, is available on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for ¥1,500, which includes tax and service charge. The special dessert service will be offered if it is raining at 11 a.m.
