Wakayama fair in Yokohama

The Pan Pacific Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu will hold a Wakayama Prefecture dinner fair at its buffet dining restaurant, Cafe Tosca, from April 18 to May 31.

Part of the restaurant's Night Kitchen Stadium series based on an international or domestic theme, this fair showcases a range of Wakayama's bounty from the mountains and the sea.

At the vegetable corner, guests can savor items such as brand name cherry tomatoes. Meals such as acqua pazza (Italian poached fish) and roast chicken seasoned with plums are prepared with Wakayama products.

Chefs perform their culinary arts in front of guests' eyes in the Kitchen Stadium, and meals for children are prepared, too.

The buffet is available from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 4,700 for adults. On Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and on May 2 and 6, there are two seatings for two hours, from 5:30 p.m. and from 8 p.m., at 5,600 for adults. The price for children is 2,800 at all seatings. Prices include tax but not the service charge.

Kenzo red wines with Kobe beef

The restaurant Kobe Beef Kaiseki 511 in the Akasaka area of Tokyo will host the Kenzo Premium Wine Fair from April 21 to 30.

Kobe Beef Kaiseki 511 is particular about the quality of its namesake beef, using only cuts of the highest grade. The restaurant offers a variety of kaiseki dishes using Kobe beef.

For the fair, in cooperation with Kenzo Estate Winery in Napa Valley, California — considered one of the top wine regions in the United States — Kobe Beef Kaiseki 511 will offer two courses for tasting three premium red wines: Rindo, Murasaki and Ai.

The Kenzo Wine Tasting Course offers a glass of each wine and assorted cheeses and raisins for 10,000. The Kenzo Wine Marriage Course offers an appetizer sampler, Kobe beef steak and a plate of sushi made with Kobe beef plus a glass of each wine and the assorted cheese plate for 18,000.

The courses are available at dinnertime, from 6 p.m. to midnight (last order 11:30 p.m.). Prices do not include tax.

Art, nature, relaxation in Hakone

The Odakyu Hakone Highland Hotel is offering an Art in Hakone special accommodation plan through May 31 (except April 30 to May 4).

Located in Sengokuhara, a pristine natural environment in Hakone and home to various museums, the hotel has relaxation areas where guests can stroll among plains covered with spring flowers, as well as a collection of fine works of art.

The plan includes a one-night stay, a dinner course at the hotel's La Foret restaurant, a choice of breakfast (Western or traditional Japanese) and the use of the hotel's hot springs. Each guests also receives a complimentary ticket to one of the three neighboring museums: the Pola Museum of Art, the Venetian Glass Museum or the Lalique Museum, Hakone.

The rates for the plan in a twin room are 19,150 per person on weekdays, Sundays and holidays, and 25,150 per person on Saturdays. The rate includes service charge and tax.
