Tuscan summer food festival

Ristorante il Leone at The Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa will host Summer Italian Festa 2009 from July 26 to 28.

Fabrizio Innocenti, executive chef of the five-star Grand Hotel in Florence, Italy, will be coming to Tokyo to present Tuscan dishes using fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients.

There's a four-dish lunch course (¥5,000, 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.) and a five-dish dinner course (¥10,000, 5:30 p.m.-11 p.m.). A wine set (two glasses of white or red wine) is available for ¥2,000.

Royal Park conjures up magic

The Royal Park Hotel in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, will hold a magic show with some sleight-of-hand tips and a dinner buffet for children and parents from Aug. 6 to 8.

The show will feature award-wining magician Shurei, who will let you in on a few of his secrets and teach you a trick or two at the third-floor Crown Room banquet facility. After the show and lessons, guests can enjoy a dinner buffet at the first-floor Symphony coffee shop.

The magic show and lessons start at 4 p.m. (reception from 3:30 p.m.), and finish at 5:30 p.m. The dinner buffet is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is ¥6,000 for adults and ¥4,000 for children aged between 4 and 12.

The Royal Park Hotel is a five-minute walk from Ningyo-cho Station on the Asakusa Line; there's also a direct link between the hotel and Suitengu-mae Station on the Hanzomon Line. For more information, call (03) 3667-1111.

A beer, or two, with a view

Sky Beer Hall 32 has opened on the 32nd floor of the Hotel Nikko Osaka in the city's Shinsaibashi district.

The popular summer attraction uses the top-floor Jet Stream banquet room as a beer hall on weekdays.

For ¥5,500, you can enjoy unlimited drinks for 100 minutes, a set dinner, live music and breathtaking night views of Osaka from 100 meters above the ground.

The set dinner includes assorted hot and cold food, a selection of five main dishes, salad and bread bar, and coffee.

Drinks include draft beer, whiskey, shochu, sake, wine, chuhai, plum wine, cocktails and soft drinks.

There are also a la carte selections, such as teppanyaki (from ¥1,800) and desserts (from ¥500).

The beer hall is open on weekdays through Sept. 4, and Aug. 1, 15 and 16, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays and July 31, Aug. 3, 6 and 7.
