And the dog can come too
The Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa in Kanagawa Prefecture is welcoming man's best friend with a dog-friendly stay package for up to five people and up to two dogs in a private cottage.
Located just 60 minutes from central Tokyo, the spa resort lies in the foothills of the Hakone Mountains, overlooking the blue waters of Sagami Bay. The hotel is equipped with Japanese onsen hot-spring baths, a fitness center, tennis courts and 11 types of spas and pools.
The package includes the famous Hilton Breakfast Buffet and free access to the spas and onsen (though furry friends are not allowed). Special amenities for dogs, including sleeping mats, food and water bowls with a place mat, towels and more will be available in the spacious 95-sq.-meter cottage. A dog run is located just around the corner from the cottage.
The package is ¥42,000 for two people and ¥4,000 per dog (up to midsize pooches are welcome) per night.

Chinese New Year dinner
Trader Vic's restaurant at the Hotel New Otani in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, will serve a special dinner in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The Lunar New Year is a major celebration not only in China but throughout Southeast Asia and Chinatowns all over the world. This year it falls on Jan. 26.
To mark the occasion, an original "Pake Dinner" will be prepared by the hotel's Malaysian-Chinese chef, Tai Sieow Yong. (Pake is a Hawaiian term for Chinese.)
Trader Vic's operates in more than 20 locations around the globe, offering unique cuisine that mixes recipes from many food cultures.
After barbecued spare rib roll and shark fin soup, the main course, consisting of four dishes — traditional fillet of beef with X.O. sauce, jumbo prawns in sweet chili sauce, stir-fried mixed vegetables and stir-fried rice — will be presented on one plate a la Hawaii.
The Pake Dinner costs ¥10,500 per person, excluding service, and is available through Feb. 9, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Nikko Tokyo kanburi specials
The Hotel Nikko Tokyo's three restaurants are offering special menus featuring the seasonal delicacy kanburi (winter yellowtail) from Himi in Toyama Prefecture, which is famous for the quality of its fish.
Kanburi shabu shabu (thinly sliced kanburi boiled in kelp soup with vegetables) is ¥2,625 per person at the Sakura, a Japanese restaurant on the third-floor. Toh-gu, a Chinese restaurant on the second floor, offers Szechuan-style kanburi stir-fry with mushrooms, zucchini and red peppers (from ¥3,675). At the Taronga grill and wine restaurant on the second floor, scorched kanburi tapas (¥1,890) can be enjoyed with more than 30 condiments, including ginger chutney, a variety of salts and oils, and dried sweetmeats.
